Daniel A. Kellerhals completed his primary education at Primaschule Biel and received his Matura diploma from Biel Gymnasium. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Bern, and pursued further studies in Management at the London School of Economics.
His academic background in economics and management laid the foundation for his later achievements in international economic relations, cultural diplomacy, and arts administration.

From 1969 to 1979, Daniel Kellerhals served in the Swiss Federal Government, specifically in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he worked on international economic, trade, and industrial policy matters.
He participated in negotiations with the OECD and GATT/WTO, contributing to the formation of Swiss trade policy during a crucial period of globalization.
Between 1974 and 1977, he was posted at the Embassy of Switzerland in Washington D.C., where he focused on bilateral trade relations between Switzerland and the United States.

During his tenure with the Swiss Federation of the Watch Industry, Mr. Kellerhals co-organized the Basel Fair – World Trade Fair and Exhibition for Watches and Jewelry, one of the most prestigious events in the global watch and jewelry industry.
In 1981, he directed the Swiss Watches Trade Fair in Baghdad, expanding Swiss watchmaking’s international presence and cultural trade partnerships.
🎵 Artistic and Organizational Career
Parallel to his diplomatic and economic career, Daniel Kellerhals has been deeply involved in music and cultural organization.
He studied flute and violin during his school years and has been an active French horn player since 1958. Between 1962 and 1963, he performed as a French horn player with the Bern Symphony Orchestra, and later served as President of the Biel Church Choir Association.
He served on the board of the Swiss Orchestra Association (EOV) and later as President of the European Association of Amateur Orchestras (EVL/EAAO) for five years.
From 2008 to 2019, he was President of the European Orchestra Federation (EOFed), where he significantly expanded the European network of amateur orchestras.
Under his leadership, major European Orchestra Festivals were held in Tallinn (Estonia), Cremona (Italy), Bergen (Norway), and Plovdiv (Bulgaria), strengthening transnational collaboration and artistic exchange across Europe.
He was also a Board Member of the Orchestra Liechtenstein-Werdenberg (OLW) from 1999 to 2023, and served as its President from 2006 to 2016. During his tenure, he elevated the orchestra’s artistic standard and fostered numerous international exchange projects.
From 2005 to 2008, he was Board Member of the International Menuhin Music Academy (IMMA), and from 2009 to 2019, he served as Coordinator for the European Music Council (EMC).
In his role at EMC, Mr. Kellerhals actively contributed to European cultural policy development, promoting the recognition of amateur and community arts as essential components of cultural diversity and social cohesion.
Since 2008, he has been the Program Director of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Amateur Orchestra (GFAO), organizing more than thirteen programs that provide talented amateur musicians the opportunity to perform in a professional artistic environment.
In 2020, he founded and became President of the Swiss cultural association Culture for All, which advocates for accessibility, inclusion, and diversity in the arts.
He also serves as Board Member and Eastern Switzerland Coordinator of the MUS-E Project under the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, where he supports arts education initiatives that foster children’s creativity and social inclusion.
